Darlene Lavern Hamilton Memorial Scholarship
About the Scholarship
Our scholarship is named for our late sorority and chapter member, Darlene Lavern Hamilton, born January 16, 1965 and passed away on March 12, 2004.
Born on our Sorority’s founding date, Darlene “Doll” Lavern Hamilton graduated from Henrico High School and James Madison University. She was a member, choir director, and youth leader at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. A champion for children, Darlene worked for the United Way and Friends for Children. She was a member of the Richmond Community Choir. As a member of Sigma Delta Zeta Chapter and namesake of the chapter’s scholarship fund, we hope to honor her memory and continue her legacy of serving the community.
The Darlene L. Hamilton Memorial Scholarship will award upwards of $500 in book scholarships through an application process. Scholarships will be open to graduating Henrico County Public Schools high school students who will be matriculating into a college or university.
The Scholarship is operated in partnership with our national scholarship program, the Zeta National Education Foundation, Inc.
